The Department of Epidemiology and Community Medicine
The Department of Epidemiology and Community Medicine is a research and teaching department of the University of Ottawa. For the past 24 years, we have offered an MSc degree in Epidemiology. Over 140 students have successfully completed their MSc. Most are now employed in various health research and management positions. This year (2011), we were pleased to announce the start of a doctoral (PhD) programme in epidemiology. We currently have 10 students enrolled in that programme.. We also are actively involved in the teaching if epidemiology, biostatistics and community health to medical students.
We have close collaborations with the Institute of Population Health and the Ottawa Health Research Institute Clinical Epidemiology Research Unit. Many faculty also have an active teaching role in the doctoral degree in Population Health and the Certificate in Population Health Risk Assessment and Management.
