Introduction to Epidemiology (EPI 5240)

EVALUATION METHODS AND ASSIGNMENTS

The primary objective of the course is to develop a basic understanding of epidemiological reasoning and research methods, plus an appreciation for the limitations of these methods. Students will be expected to master a range of analytical approaches but will also need to demonstrate proficiency with critiquing the published literature and interpreting the meaning of studies. The course will be evaluated through a combination of methods:

  • Three take-home assignments covering a combination of analytical methods and conceptual reasoning
  • Participation in the course discussion forum. Sharing knowledge with other students is an important skill to learn
  • A formal 3 hour examination.
